It should be pretty easy to eliminate two of these answers. Since both Babar and Horton are elephants, one can't be correct without the other being correct. So they both have to be wrong. I knew this one immediately because a past $250,000 PTBAM question asked what animal's name in Latin is the derivation of the word "muscle".

My first thought, before the choices were revealed, was to confuse Mus musculus with Musca domestica. After not recognizing any house flies among the choices, it took a couple more seconds to remember this was a mouse, instead.

It surprised me that he didn't asked his PaF what Mus Musculus is.

That's what I woulda done if I didn't know.

That's the key part of the question, along with knowing what each of those characters are. The damned clock doesn't leave the contestant the leisure to reformulate the question as they once could, though.

Boy, he caught a terrible stack. From the transcript description, I would guess he was around 60-ish at least. He gets two recent pop culture questions and a kiddie lit question. My sympathies for him, especially since his retirement account probably got hammered last year.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

He's a WE® of course, but he's a teacher (or rather was one) so I root for him.

OK, although this is an obvious easy question, I wonder why this was necessary. Don't the Starbucks baristas get that training early, so why would they have to shut down nationwide for three hours?

It's a shame David didn't know that both Horton and Babar were elephants. Since they both can't be the right answer, then he could have used the Double Dip and chosen the other two as his answers and gone further in the game.

Maybe he thought a Who could be a Mus Musculus.

Wrong. The question was about species. If one happened to be an Asian elephant while the other were African, then they'd be of 2 different species, one of which could well have been the correct answer.

Nasty indeed. I had the same difficulty as I have never heard of the movie even though I try to stay semi current, care nothing for current pop music (kinda knew it but wasn't really sure so probably have to burn a lifeline) and typically do poorly with the kiddie lit Q's.
