Good luck to trevor_macfee

With two months of shows left to air before the next Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions and trevor_macfee currently sitting in the 11th qualifying position (it has been confirmed that the college champion will not play this year -- he had an unavoidable work commitment, which happens sometimes when you're in the military), it appears likely that he has qualified for the Tournament. I understand that it tapes next week.

So GOOD LUCK! --Bob

I'll send good luck vibes to trevor on Thursday and through the weekend. We'll just put the Good Vibes Machine on autopilot.

Good luck, Trevor!

Boy, we're used to the "I can't tell you how well I do on the show" secrecy, but not even being able to say if you're going to tape is something else again.

I haven't looked for it and don't know its contents, but I understand that Jeopardy! has put out a press release identifying all 15 of the contestants. I further understand that the information in that release is available on the Web.

If someone does elect to find it, please use appropriate Spoiler tags before using any of the information therein. --Bob

As far as I know, that press release is not available on the web. I have seen a copy of it (forwarded to me before it was removed). There was a press release which listed at least one player (Jim Stevens - whose games have since aired) which hadn't aired at the time.

Thanks for the well-wishes.

I am back from Las Vegas, still somewhat jet-lagged and pretty darn worn out from what was an intense competition. But, it was a LOT of fun! The most remarkable thing to me was the camaraderie among the contestants - that even though we were playing for lots of money there were no hyper-competitive or cutthroat attitudes on display. It was truly a peak experience. My family went along with me and we really had a blast for five days in Vegas. Thanks especially to whomever suggested visiting Red Rock Canyon.

The tourney airs March 11-24. My first and/or only appearance is Friday the 13th.

Oh - and we were discouraged from posting in advance on any message boards because for some of us the fact that we were invited to the TOC was a spoiler for how well others did in the shows that have not yet been shown (if that makes sense). But now that the taping is over and the show has issued the press release with who's playing, I don't see how there's a problem.

As always, I'm happy to answer any questions about the experience except game outcomes.

(Edited to make the ambiguity obvious)

Friday the 13th!

I love it!

I will be in Florida with my folks then. It will be very cool to sit and watch someone I know with them.

Makes me seem smarter.

Seems like you've already given us one outcome - you didn't advance past the first round, if I read your words correctly. That's a shame.

He may have hedged his wording with the slash to keep from giving to much information. I shall watch regardless.

I took the "/" in the "first/only" to maybe be a first(and or) only.

First and/or only is the correct connotation/denotation.

Wouldn't it be simpler to refer to your quarterfinal game? That's known to be unique no matter what the result. --Bob

Hello, Mr. Pastor. I have a question: Did Dan Pawson's wife do a lot of talking? Jes' axin'. That is all.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time with contestant guests, but all of Dan's family and friends (I believe he had a big crew there) seemed like great folks, and his wife seemed like a real sweetheart.

My family and friends who were there probably interacted with them more in the contestant guests' section of the audience, and my people had nothing but good things to say about any of the other folks in that section. In fact, my wife said that getting to know some of the other contestants' families was one of the best parts of the experience. (I guess it was good to know that she wasn't alone in "losing" her loved one for a couple months to endless viewings of TIVO'd Jeopardy and studying of notecards).

Speaking of the studying - it's going to be great to sit down with a book that's just for fun and read it for pleasure instead of trying to absorb anything that might be a topic on the show.
