Rather than naming a favorite, I have a top five.
In no particular order...
Sunset Blvd.
Vertigo
Lawrence of Arabia
The Godfather
Singin' in the Rain
Raiders of the Lost Ark will sometimes be substituted for The Godfather when I'm naming my top five, depending on my mood at the time...

I don't have a top "xxx" (pick your favorite number) since it changes all the time. In fact, I have a Shelf with my 200 most favorite movies on it. I add and remove movies from The Shelf as new ones come on the market and I tire of others. I can, and have, watch these movies again and again.

I have no idea what the "best" movies are, I just have my favorites:
Kelly's Heroes
Lawrence of Arabia
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Those are the core. Others float in and out of the list.

Like AJ, movies float on and off my 'fave' list, but perrennials are:
Princess Bride
Pride & Prejudice (any will do, but my favorite is the Keira Knightly one)
Phantom of the Opera (the latest incarnation)
I got Mama Mia for Christmas, but haven't watched it yet. I expect I'll like it.

I wonder if PeaBabe ever watched this.
