Just in the process of joining our local....

Need to clean out kid stuff and thought this might be a great way to do it.

I use freecycle when I clean out closets or have something I no longer need. No good stories to speak of but some really grateful recipients as a rule.

Good luck!

Our only experience with Freecycle actually wasn't that great. We were trying to give away a sofa and loveseat. We received four or five positive responses and contacted the first one, who said she would be coming to get it on Saturday (this was a Monday). So, we told the others that somebody else was first and waited til Saturday. And waited. She said she'd be there between noon and 2, and at around 2:30 we received an e-mail from her saying that she couldn't get the pickup truck so she couldn't get the furniture. Sorry. So, we re-contacted the others who were interested but nobody got back to us. Finally, three weeks later, a friend of a friend got in touch with us and picked up the furniture this past Sunday.

The only real annoyance for us was that we had to move the furniture into the garage, so my car couldn't get in there (I know, no biggie), but it definitely wasn't as smooth as I thought it would be.
