Was this the dude on BAM that had a fuss about the highest capital or something? I thought it was Rosner, but I just saw a commercial for Domino's (or Subway, I"m not sure which) featuring some guy billed as "Rick Rossner, The World's' Smartest Man".

It might be. There is a wiki page all about him and his I.Q. scores.

It's spelled "Rosner," but yeah, that's him.

I will assume that Rosner wrote his own Wikipedia entry.

I also never again will believe anything that Domino's (or Subway) tells me.

Actually, the Subway promo spelled his name "Rossner"... so blame Subway.

Wow -- too smart to spell his name correctly! :P

If Rick Rosner and Marilyn Vos Savant got into a battle of wits, who would win?

I have met Marilyn. She was actually extremely nice.

To drop a couple of famous names....

I was at the engagement party of Marilyn VS and Dr. Robert Jarvik that his mother threw them. It was at Mrs. Jarvik's home which my husband had rented a room in for a couple of years when he first came to the US.

It was pretty funny to watch the world famous heart specialist carving the leg of lamb.

And really funny when one of the quite old aunts was talking to M.V.S about how she wouldn't have to work anymore since he could provide adequately for them both. She was very polite to the aunt when she spoke about how she enjoyed her work, without mentioning what it actually was, and would probably still work anyway.

I was trying hard not to choke on my cocktail.

They, not surprisingly, are no longer married.

I can very much believe that :) Back when she was first coming to public notice -- probably around the time Parade started running her column -- she was on one of the late night gabfests (Leno? Letterman? Maybe Conan?? ) Anyhow, she came across as very down-to-earth and with a good sense of humor about herself.

The host commented, well -- shouldn't you be in a lab somewhere, curing cancer? Or inventing an artificial heart, or something?? You're the World's Smartest Woman!

And Marilyn just smiled and said, Yes, but you know, Conan (or Jay, or Dave, or whoever) -- I don't care!

Wiki article wrote:Rosner was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and moved to Boulder, Colorado when his mother remarried. Nerdy and socially awkward, he began lifting weights in high school in an unsuccessful strategy to attract a girlfriend. Nearing graduation, Rosner decided to forgo college and move in with his father’s and stepmother’s family in Albuquerque while he returned to high school to try to lose his virginity. Rosner broke into Boulder High School and stole blank transcript forms, which he used to create a false academic record that enabled him to enroll as a fake transfer student at Albuquerque’s Highland High School. After several months, at odds with his father’s family and with his virginity still intact, Rosner dropped out of Highland High and returned to Boulder, where he became a mediocre student at the University of Colorado (Morris 2000, Rosner 1991, Krier 1992).

For some reason I keep conflating Rick Rosner with the "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire" guy -- whose name was Rick Rockwell (born Richard Balkey)!

That is an awful bio!

I guess it's so awful, it wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

If that's the case, it's badly written since you can't tell for sure.

FYI, here's the commercial. It must not be very effective, if no one here can remember whether it's for Domino's or Subway. I don't know why they misspelled Rick's name.

Rosner looks like he has been eating out of a garbage can. Is he saying Domino's is garbage?

Wow, where did that comment come from? Maybe you see more upscale people eating out of garbage cans than I do, but the ones I've seen look nothing like Rick does in this commercial. And no, I didn't hear anything remotely close to him saying Domino's is garbage. I got the impression that he actually likes their sandwiches, since he has one in his hand. Though it's true that he never explicitly expresses an opinion about it.

I think you may be taking the comment a little too literally. Rosner looks like he needs a good clean shave in the commercial. I think he's let himself go. No, I do not actually think that he has been eating garbage, nor do I think that Domino's pizza is garbage.

What struck me about the commercial was that it compares Rick's IQ of 200 to an "Average 5th Grader's" - now doesn't the Avg. I.Q. have to be 100 for any broad group of people of the same age, by definition? I was wondering why they specifically picked 5th graders unless they are trying to help Rick get a spot on a certain show that still amazes some folks that other folks still watch it?

There is just something weird about all of that. You are right - the IQ comparison is completely off, plus his name is mispelled. Is this some sort of pod person Rosner? Is he the first in a wave?
