As I expected yesterday was very quiet - I don't believe I spoke more than a dozen words to anyone the entire work day, and there were no phone calls. I expect today to be along the same lines.
I forgot to mention yesterday that a good friend suffered a minor catastrophe. He had gone to Washington D.C. for the holidays but got a call from his landlord on Saturday that his apartment had been flooded. Evidently a pipe burst in the apartment above his, which was vacant, and the water got into the walls and down into our friend's apartment. So he had to come home and a bunch of us from church spent Sunday afternoon and evening trying to get him moved into a new place and try to recover what he could from his belongings. His clothes and such were laundered and OK, but he is a musician and he had a lot of sheet music that got soaked. Much of it is irreplaceable, so he's hoping that he can salvage it, but it doesn't look good. A church member who works in the archives at the local university has been helping him with suggestions on how to dry out the items.
