When I was in South Africa, one of the big stories was a group of baboons that were particularly adept at shoplifting. They apparently do it all the time, but these guys were coordinated - one would serve as a distraction, while the others would run into the store and grab pretty much anything.

You are exhorted while visiting the Cape not to have food obviously visible through a window in your car, should a baboon stroll by. They've been known to try the "smash and grab" also. I myself ran into baboons only once - they were in the middle of the road, blocking traffic and just chilling.

If people would give their dogs (and baboons) credit cards, this sort of crime would stop.

Nobody ever listens to me. If I had a credit card, I would use it responsibly -- only when I really needed a chewy bone or pizza delivery.
