First white Christmas here in 12 years

We got about 20 centimeters Saturday night and Sunday, and another 10 centimeters last night. It is extremely pretty, but rather inconvenient

Pretty much a given now that we will not be heading to my parents anytime soon. The road there winds and twists and the homes are set off the road.

So, I will be heading to the store later for a small chicken (only 2 of us). My step-daughter has invited us for the day too, but same problem of getting there.

Still, we are both healthy and have food, a roof, and some packages to enjoy on Christmas morning. Big J is getting his Ipod, so no matter where we are, he'll be a happy boy LOL.

Buses are running this morning, but reduced service, so I'll have to head in to work about 1/2 hour earlier than normal. Taking an extra pair of pants and socks with me to change into, as the snow is over my calf in many areas.

Jules: Do you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
Brett: No.
Jules: Tell him, Vincent.
Vincent: Royale with cheese.
Jules: Royale with cheese. Do you know why they call it a Royale with cheese?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett! You smart mother@#$##&; that's right! The metric system.

Between Friday's storm and Sunday's, we got somewhere between 15-18 inches of snow. The mound on the corner of our driveway, where the streen snowplow tends to pile things up, is nearly six feet high. It will definitely be white around here through New Year's and well beyond.

I have a new love in my life. The Toro snowthrower came through like a champ. MUCH less effort to clear the walk and driveway, even the heavier and deeper street plow stuff at the end of the driveway. I still need to figure out a clearing pattern, though, so the prevailing winds don't keep blowing the powder back in my face.

There are reports that the Canadian Weather Service is predicting the first White Christmas for all of Canada since 1971

I did that the first time I had to do the snowblowing all by myself because I had the day off and SteelersFan had to go make a living and put food on the table and in kittycat and in pupdog bowls.

The prevailing breeze where I live is west to east, so i start on the extreme west of the driveway and work east. This makes it a little harder on the last couple of passes, but it's well worth it to me not to be blanketed in frozen ice crystals. SteelersFan starts in the middle and works to the sides; looks like Frosty when he's done.
