Does anyone want to adopt me for the holidays?

#1 Post by sunflower » Fri Dec 19, 2008 3:52 pm

I officially have nowhere to go on Christmas day. Beloved boyfriend who decided to dump me had previously agreed that we would spend Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas day with his. I therefore cannot blame my family for making plans to go out of town that day, especially since our normal hosts (my uncle's family) are half Jewish (my aunt who married into our family and their kids are Jewish) so they don't have the same connection I do to it. They're going into NYC to see her brother. My mom is going to a friend's. And I have nowhere to go!

I'm not loving the holidays this year, not even a little bit. :(

Well, I think that we all know my penchant for adoption . . .

However, I would not subject anyone to my side of the family or the road trip early on the 26th to KC with three load, Christmas-crazy kids.

Consider yourself invited.

Do you play pinochle?

Come to my house, really! One more won't make a bit of difference and the zoo
around here will keep your mind off your broken heart. Now I'm sad...I don't want you alone on
Christmas, if I have to send you plane ticket!

You can fall on by my place as long as you are one of the following two things: a good cleaner up-er or a good stay the hell out of the way while I clean the kitchen-er. Most people in my family are neither. Ha!

Then we can watch basketball on my bitchin' HD and organize my coupon stacks.

Whaddaya say?

PS If you've ever thought that I was the tiniest bit sort of humourous in any way, you'll love Christmas at Le Shack de Fantine.

And, in order to trump Kiki's offer of a plane ticket, I will add that my Christmas tree is so pink and lavender and white and sparkly that you'd think Hello Kitty herself had thrown up on it.

Well, I certainly can't compete with Fan's sense of humor or HK Christmas
tree, but I can promise chaos and good food! (beef tenderloin and leg of lamb)mmmm...!!

Ante up!

Wow, you're fancy......

I just have a turkey, but everything is made from scratch. Except for the cranberry jelly in a can (which I get because I like it, not because I can't make homemade cranberry sauce). And my grandma makes a groovy cream cheese and garlic and cheese and other stuff dip for our Ruffles. Oh, two things that aren't made from scratch, because nothing beats Ruffles. Ha!

And I wasn't going to make my fabulous sweet potato pie this year because it's labour intensive, but I'll make the sacrifice if it throws Sunflower over to my side of the fence. And, of course, there's always Fluffy Tapioca!

Okay, sister, beat that!

I'd like to beat up the old boyfriend myself. How dare someone dump you just before the holidays!

That is just rude.

Hey, I'll put my fluffy tapioca up against yours any day! It's just no one in my
family will eat it!! I'll do my curried rice casserole and the kids just have to have green beans.
Others will bring sweet potato casserole, squash casserole and I'm doing an ambrosia.
James will make the chocolate pies..he's very good at that. Otherwise, I got nothin'....

That's exactly what I said! Just bite your tongue and wait 3 freakin weeks...his response was that it would be worse after the holidays. Right....keep telling yourself that...

Oh, don't make me pull out the big guns....

Did I mention that my sweet potato pie is made with yogurt instead of evaporated milk and is practically fat and calorie free (assuming you forego the pecans and maple syrup on the top, ha!)?

Not to mention the prospect of being allowed to love and coddle Chloe and Fanny (Cecilia doesn't "do" family events).

Just watch now. Sunny will choose Kusch and his pinochle..... (hey, I also play pinochle! And I'm very good at it, I get all Rain Man on everybody's ass.)

I have never played pinochle...but I bet I could learn.

I'm all about the food...but the first person to say "voodoo doll" might take it...

Fine...I may have to concede. However, I somehow managed to "volunteer"(the girl
in charge called and asked and I didn't have the heart to say no!) to bake a turkey for our local Red Lobster
that serves a turkey dinner on Christmas day for law enforcement and fireman who have to work that day.

I'm feeding 18 - 20 at my house! Just sayin'.....

There must be some kind of delay, because I the posts from Kusch and Holtdad didn't show up
until just now!

To Summarize:

Kusch: Pinochle

Peacock: Ass kicking

Kiki: Beef Tenderloin
Leg of lamb
Air Fare

Fanny: Hello Kitty decor
Two actual kitties open to rubs and scritches
Basketball in HD
BB&B coupons
Cranberry jelly with tin can ridges

Looks like a no brainer to me.

When did Kusch land on your foe list?

Rats, looks like Kiki rakes in the chips.

Oh, well, more of Grandma's Dip for me... (If the ravenous wolfpack known as teenage boys don't get it all first. Ha!)

Well, if you want to compare apples to apples:

I have:

BB&B coupons (yep, we even have a store here now!)
Basketball in HD
My cranberry sauce will be home made (with orange juice and cinnamon)
One kitty
One Yorkie

Ok, that's better.

When did Kusch land on your foe list?
After she met me in Minneapolis in September. :D

Nope, not true. :D :D It is odd that those 2 posts didn't show up for while though. My
ghost must be at it again.

Too late, your obscenely fancy Beef Tenderloin probably reeled her in already.

PS The mention of your cranberry sauce pales in the face of 'jelly in a can'.

Silly girls...I don't need your BB&B coupons...I live in a condo complex with 168 units where I hit the recycle box on BB&B coupon day!!! I have about 200 in my car and that's probably not an exaggeration!!! But BB&B coupons would be part of my hostess gift...

But on all other points, I am totally feeling the love!!!

My little McCall loves "jelly in a can" and was disappointed & quite frankly offended
on Thanksgiving when I offered her the homemade stuff.
