Just call me the ICEman. As I mentioned yesterday I had to participate in a conference call; the call related to the implementation of a new customer satisfaction system known as ICE (Interactive Customer Evaluation). The system requires that each office have an "ICE service manager" who will be the person that receives an e-mail message every time someone completes the ICE form and forwarding it to the person who was the subject of the comment card. Because this is an "automated system", guess who got tagged to be the service manager? So now I'm the "ICEman". What really frosts my cookies, though, is a comment that was made about 20 minutes after the call started - the leader of the conference call said that another such call would be held after January 1 for the benefit of those who had missed this call. Why did they even bother to have this call if they were going to do another one next month? I could have attended the office Christmas party which was, I gather from the e-mail traffic this morning, a riproaring good time.
On another subject, this is my last day in the office until after Christmas - more "use or lose" leave time plus the holiday and a last gift from President Bush - all Federal employees were given Friday, December 26 off. I'll be back in the office on December 29 and 30, then out again until January 5.
