30 years ago on Beethoven's birthday...

GW and I were married in a chapel on the campus of Indiana University, just across the road from the chemistry building where we were both grad students. Our honeymoon consisted of driving her car back to Boston, towing a U-Haul with all her belongings. I hadn't been working long enough to accumulate much vacation time. It hasn't all been fun and games, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. I don't know what I'd do without her, and I can't imagine being with anyone else.

Two kids, two dogs and several guinea pigs, fish and cats later, we will be alone for Christmas for the first time since HS was born (or conceived, actually; he was plenty active in utero during the holidays three weeks before he arrived officially.). Our present two kitties will be sleeping off their catnip and canned food jag. It will be quiet. The real celebration occurs on the 27th, when the HC come for a week's visit.

Happy Anniversary!

But do you mean to tell me that your in-laws didn't go through the months and months of work you did for BD, planning the perfect wedding?

Honestly, I do not know if they wanted to. I do know that they could not have afforded it.

In any case, we got married at grad school, which was almost exactly halfway between our homes (KS and MA). GW did virtually all the arranging in my absence; I was already back in MA by then. It was considerably smaller than BD's wedding.

BD's may have served GW as a surrogate for any grandiose plans she had had for her own. I do not know, and shall not ask.
