To all my friends at the Bored:
I wish you a very happy, healthy, holiday season and a joyous 2009. Also, on a personal note, I want to thank you for putting up with my nonsense as I try to help these kids out. To those of you who ever felt inspired from me, thank you. T-Bone, stay strong my man, I'm fighting for you. Frogman, AKA Jay, you are one in a million, I love you. Jason Block, thank you. The mods, thank you. I know the economy us rough for everybody, but with your permission, I'd like to keep you abreast of the latest developments for the kids this year. And I want to tell you a story.
My friend Jessica has severe cerebral palsy. She gave me a $48 Visa Debit Card. I could have spent it on any number of things, but I gave $10 to St. Jude in honor of my late mother and the other $38 to my charity in honor of my pal Cody, who is 8 and is fighting to stay alive. Now, I'm telling you this for a simple reason. As I said, the economy sucks. I know some of you want to give so badly, but can't or are embarrassed that whatever you can afford won't be enough. Let me tell you two things - just the thought of giving to a complete stranger you see on the internet to help some kids you'll never see warms my heart, and further, if you can't give, do not worry, I am praying for you, Cody's family is praying for you, and we're gonna bring it home this year so that you never have to worry about muscular dystrophy striking your family.
And one more thing: The simplest gift is a smile, a hug, a kiss. Give it to somebody. The things you lose, you keep, and the things you give away, you keep forever.
We all have something to give. My job is to let you realize that yes, there are caring people like you out there who want to change the world in a positive way just as badly as you do.
God bless you all. I love you.
James
