top o' the mornin'®

It's nice to be back in the same corner of cyberspace again (once more, thanks Dave!). Last week I was on vacation, which was pretty much a yawner - with no place to go and all my shopping done early in the week I ended up with not much to occupy my time (no new books to read - I'm expecting several for Christmas). The weekend was evenful, however - on Friday night the church had a "dessert party" at which our youth performed "A Charlie Brown Christmas", on Sunday our Sanctuary Choir performed in the morning and our children's music programs had their Christmas program of music and readings. It's always a moving, yet humorous evening; the children are on stage and although they sing well, they also let their attention wander to the audience, trying to see parents and grandparents.
The weather turned nasty on Monday - rain, freezing rain and sleet came down intermittently all day and the Deputy District Engineer sent everyone home an hour early because of fears that the commute would be a mess (it wasn't). And yesterday I found out that I'll have to miss our office Christmas party (which is today, offsite), because of a conference call that I have to be involved with that starts at the same time as the party.
