Maybe there are things you would have rather been doing, but we appreciate your doing what you did for us.

Yes, thanks. I'm glad you didn't have to spend you entire
vacation working this as well.

My pleasure, as always. In the end, it didn't really consume a huge amount of time so much as it created a huge amount of worry on my part. But, lesson learned. I'll be better prepared if and when it happens again.

It wouldn't have come to that. Worst-case scenario, I rebuild the Bored from scratch, and we start all over with no posts and everyone registering again. That wouldn't have taken more than a day or so to set up and configure, now that I know what needs to be done.

I love worst-case scenarios. They remind us how the bad stuff is not that bad, mostly.
This would have been like an enema, a cleansing-out, which everyone needs now and then.

Thanks, Dave. Like many of us, I felt a gap while the Bored was down. This place, and the people here, are a real part of my life, and I miss it, and y'all, when it's not available. --Bob

You didn't have to and you did.
I like that in a man.
Thank you.

I've got the picture in my mind of Dave in a fight with HAL 9000 to rescue the bored.
Dave: All right, HAL; I'll go in through the emergency airlock.
HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.
Dave: HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!
HAL: Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.
HAL: Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.
HAL: I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.
