Bad enough I'm inept at home repairs ...

... but when I get incorrect installation directions, that just tears it.
I'm installing a wall doorstop for the bathroom door, so that I can hang some robe racks behind it without having them bang holes into the door. Simple, right? No such luck. The directions tell me to drill a 5/16" hole for the anchor. Okay. I went out yesterday to get a 5/16" bit for the towel rack anchors (those worked, by the way). I drill the hole. I take the anchor. It nearly falls into the wall. No way it was a 5/16" hole! More like 3/16" at best. I am thoroughly pissed.
I'm installing the other hardware around the room while the spackle repair dries. Next is replacing the electrical sockets and switches. Yes, I'll turn off the electricity first. I have great respect for electricity.
