I'm FINALLY starting work on Monday!

I just was called and I start work Monday!

That was being hung-up due to my criminal background check. The outfit that was doing it wasn't getting Idaho done for some reason. I check and Idaho makes you use their website and won't do anything over the phone or in writing. That might have been the problem. Anyway, on Wednesday they had me fill out a form for another company and that came back today.

I'll be staying in a hotel from Sunday night until Friday morning each week and will have Net access there, but I don't know if I will from work yet. I may have to sign-up for a cellular card for my laptop.

Good luck.

And remind me, if I'm in the mood to perpetrate a misdemeanor, to do it in Idaho.

If only Larry Craig had learned that lesson. 8) --Bob

That's just it: He did that many times in Idaho and never was caught.

Maybe senators in Idaho are like non-tasty fish: catch and release.

Wait-a-min; this job is in Idaho? You will be working during the week out of a hotel in Idaho? Is this the permanent job, or one of the interim ones. Not that there is anything wrong with Idaho! (I feel a seinfelditis attack coming on, & I couldn't even stand Seinfeld; must be contagious by osmosis.) They have some very lovely scenery in Idaho!

Is that where your daughter with the injury is?

No, no. The job is in Trenton, NJ. That's too far to drive every day. It's a five-month contract through IBM.

My daughter lives outside of Denver.

Well then. Enjoy Trenton! They have, uh, some nice scenery there! (If they actually do, & most towns actually do, somewhere, they are hiding it pretty well.)

OK I get it; they have to criminal-check you in all 50 states, but Idaho wasn't responding. I once had a house-mate who was looking for teacher jobs around the country who had to pay for their own 50-state check, way back when.

Actually, the dumb thing is that they only check in the states where I've lived or worked in the last seven years. All the state that I've criss-crossed since then don't count.

Idaho has a website that anyone can use and check in less than a minute. Why the first company didn't use that is beyond me. I should have started four weeks ago!

Now the problem is that the IBM manager hasn't responded to the attempts to contact him and say when I should show up and who I should ask for on Monday morning.

They're in hope that he will respond over the weekend. One way or the other I'm going down on Sunday,

That's right. He was caught in Minneapolis.

Good luck with your new job, by the way! :D
