Major brain cramp regarding the bathroom repairs. Sure I filled in the holes. Sure it dried overnight. Also sure that drilling new holes in the identical positions would hit the broken remnants of the metal molly posts, so that the new plastic ones won't go in all the way. Duh!

So we go to the small piece of board solution. Kay, how thick should they be? I figure at least an inch, so that the mollies will go through them and a bit into the plaster. How does your hubby do this?

LOL! I don't know about the Arkansas Pine part, but I think I can handle the 3/4" thickness. Need about a 3"x3" section. I couldn't decide whether I needed 1" thickness or something less to avoid those stoopid post remnants behind the wallboard. I'll mount the wood at other points on the wall, but the positions of the rod mount screws are fixed. If the wood plus wallboard distance isn't thick enough, I have the same issue as before.

Look at the bright side. At least you don't have one of those pressure rods marring the paint or anything.
