Can someone explain. . .

#1 Post by jayhawker536 » Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:11 am

Why is Scientology made such a big deal when it comes to Tom Cruise and it's not when it comes to John Travolta?

Like many, I view it more as a cult than a religion, but why is it that TC takes such a big hit about it and JT does not?

Not completely sure, but perhaps because Cruise is much more "in your face" about it.

I'm no expert in this area, but could it be that Tom is annoying about it and thus invites criticism whereas John is not and does not? Or is John annoying about it too and I'm just not aware of it? As I said, I'm no expert.

Tom Cruise defends and often pushes Scientology.

John Travolta is a Scientologist.

Maybe because JT has already taken his razzing for it after "Battlefield Earth".
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

It's the same as a bunch of things here on the bored. As long as it's your thing, fine. Get in everyone's face and try to make it their thing, too, not cool.

Because Tom C. is a gigantic nutball in general. He'd be annoying if he were a mainstream religion. Creepy nutball. Good actor, though.
Well, then

Oh, ok, I get it. Sort of like the born again Christians coming out like they have discovered something new and have to save the rest of us sinners. Like we never believed in Jesus Christ before their light bulb came on.

Like that - Cruise thinks your light bulb is still not on and wants to show you why your light bulb is not on and you are a jerk for not being able to see that it's not on. And, if your light bulb were on, you would be like him and not like Brook Shields.

"Battlefield Earth".

Hands down, the best book to be turned into the worst movie ever.

Cruise reminds me of Kirk Cameron.

Cruise is so much a better actor than Cameron.

But, I like Cameron.

I haven't read Battlefield Earth, but I'd nominate Starship Trooper for that award!

I haven't read BE either, but I'd certainly go along with ST being the worst book-to-movie adaptation ever.

You made me laugh. The winking smiley probably would not have produced that reaction.
