Is that a Mardi Gras mask or an infinity symbol?

I think it's a ribbon.

It's difficult to make a ribbon in candle wax.

I took it to be an infinity symbol in place of those birthday candles that are a number for somebody's age.

That's probably right. But I usually don't go wrong contradicting Cal. He either decamps, answers the same question in another thread asked by somebody else, or loses the argument.

Decamping will happen this time, as I have already admitted that I think he's right.

I had to look up decamp.

I really wasn't sure. I thought it was probably an infinity symbol, but I wanted to get other opinions.

I also thought it was a pretty obvious infinity symbol.

But then, I can't always tell what cartoon art is supposed to be! I've been reading "The Dinette Set" online for a good coupla years -- and up till a week ago, I thought Jerry (the guy on the right) was always shown wearing a hat! I recently found out it's supposed to be a toupee!

I thought it was a mardi gras mask.

I was wrong.
