Lots of buzz in the office this morning - people are back from holiday leave and getting ready for the "great refresh" that starts tomorrow. Our IT people came up with a way to back up files, but it requires the user to run a batch program to create a folder on a secure server and then manually click and drag the contents of their "My Documents" folder to the new folder. Since people are unsure how to do this I've already had to make "cubicle calls" to show them how. It feels good to be back in the "IT arena" again, even if it's just for a brief time.

Why can't the batch program also do the copy?
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

You know, Bob, that's a darn good question. When IT sent out the word and the instructions originally, it did just that. However evidently not every file backed up every time, so the RIO (Regional Information Officer) directed that the program be rewritten to create just the empty folder, making the user do the file transfer and (ideally) ensuring that every file would get backed up.Bob Juch wrote:Why can't the batch program also do the copy?
