A small setback for Annie

After 11 months of healing, the skin on Annie's back split open a bit over the weekend. It seems to have pulled apart in a small seam -- not more than 1-1/2 inches -- at the spot that was the slowest to close.

She's a diligent healer, though. Within 24 hours a nice scab had formed, and the opening seems to be closing up again.

I'm frustrated only because I thought all this was completely behind us, and I wouldn't have to keep worrying about it.

I hope that her back heals quickly. I know how fragile greyhound skin is and it takes forever for owies to heal.

Ahhh, poor Annie, and Poor Sliver.

Scritches for her, and hugs for you :(

Keep an eye on it and do what you did before. If anyone can get
it to heal quickly, you can! Give Annie a scritch from me too.

My sister's pup is currently wearing one of those stylish lampshades (his is purple) to keep him from worrying the scab that formed over where the foster dog scratched him (foster dog is currently back at real owners' house; we'll see how long that lasts).

The collar is definitely more of a befuddlement to the pup than is the scratch. Hope Annie doesn't "get into" this new "seam", but there are always those stylish, dog-befuddling lampshades if she does.

Foster-dog redeemed herself when "real dog" locked himself in bathroom #2 due to lampshade (its a complicated explanation, but trust me on this) & she sat at the bathroom dooring baying on his behalf until my sister came to see "what was happening" & let him out. Baying is what foster-dog does really well. So is snuggling, so we're missing her.

Thank you to everybody for your nice thoughts about me, but a special thanks to Miss Pea.

That's the nicest thing anybody ever said about me when I wasn't dying.

Annie, I hope you are all healed very soon, and stay that way. You and your mom deserve a break.

Sliver, I just saw this. Been at a conference for the last three days. Give Annie a gentle pat for me and urge that skin to get well soon.
