Name the 1963 artist, who took it to #10 on the pop charts, #1 on the R&B charts.

ALSO, name the 1974 artist, who took it to #6 on the pop charts.

Correct on the original. On the remake, I did not find a version by the Coasters, and it's not what RadioDude said. Not that RD is infallible, but I think he's right in this case.

At the time I had no idea who Sam Cooke was, so this will always and forever be a Cat Stevens song to me. I have two CS albums and this is on both of them.

Although I'm trying to imagine the Coasters or Spinners doing this and somebody should have made that happen. Choreography!

It's Patti D'Arbanville (this was pre-Don Johnson). He also wrote Lady D'Arbanville for her, but she's dead and in a casket in that one.

For those who don't know who she is, I think she's probably done lots of stuff but I always connect her with her role as one of the JtR victims in Time After TIme (neat watch....).

Truth to tell I've never heard the version by Yusuf Islam (the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens) but I have heard the one by the Spinners. But it doesn't fit the time frame of the question, which I didn't realize untl after I saw the Cat Stevens answer.

OK, I'm not sure where my train of thought jumped the tracks, but it seems that somehow I managed to confuse "Another Saturday Night" with "Cupid". Both were done by Sam Cooke and both were remade in the 70s, but the Spinners did "Cupid", not "Another Saturday Night".

And they have pretty much the same chord structure, key signature, and rhyme scheme, so it's an understandable confusion. I do the same thing with "Under the Boardwalk" and "Up on the Roof."
