Yesterday Maddie was performing in Stuart Little. She played Margalo the Bird in Stuart Little and had to pretend to die in a scene. When she laid down to die , she hit her head badly on the windowsill part of the stage. She said that she had double vision for a bit, but didn't black out.

After the show, which was a matinee, I picked her up and she said that she had a bad headache, one of the worst in her life. I gave her some Advil and told her not to go to sleep. Her dad was at work, but Maddie didn't want to go get a CAT scan because she had an evening performance and no understudy. She cried a bit.

I followed her to her performance to make sure that she was OK until she went on. She told me that she didn't want me to stay for the performance, so I "left" and came back and hid in the back. Her drama teacher said that she had had her best performance.

That night, we gave her more Advil and she went to sleep early. In the morning I checked on her and she said that she wanted to go volunteer at Hemopet, so we did. We left an hour earlier than usual because I have been sick and she got a bit of a headache. She did homework in the afternoon and seemed fine before Mock Trial practice. I fed her dinner then dropped her off at 6:00 for practice.

Emma and I went to a charity mall shopping event. We had fun, Emma doesn't like my taste, so she picked out her own holiday gifts. Around 8:15, we went by the main stage. Many kids from Maddie's school were there because they are musical theater students who were entertaining the crowd. One of the students is also on Maddie's Mock Trial team.

As I walked by, I saw the group, along with the Drama teacher. The student told me that she hoped that Maddie was feeling better because Maddie had been hysterically crying because of her head at Mock Trial practice. Her Drama teacher heard this and was concerned about Maddie's injury and she also wondered if Maddie was doing too much, being on the Mock Trial team and being in the play. I told her that Maddie was fine when I dropped her off and she was fine during the day and I didn't understand why she would be upset.

So anyway, I called Jeff at work and said that Maddie is still apparently having problems, so we might want to get a CAT scan. I drove back to her practice and called her up. I asked her if she still had a headache and she said she was fine. I told her that this person had said that she was crying hysterically all through practice. Maddie said that this person was lying. Other members of the Mock Trial team said that this person was lying.

At the end of practice, I picked Maddie up. We went back to the Mall Night because we knew that the girl would be performing and would still be there. Maddie went up to her in front of the whole group and said, "Why did you lie to my mother and tell her that I was crying?" The girl just walked away without saying anything, so now everyone realizes what a liar she is.

Maddie usually puts up with the rumors about her and doesn't say anything. I am really proud of her for confronting the girl and nipping it in the bud.

Somehow I missed this earlier. While I was reading it, I was sure you
were going to say Maddie has a fractured skull. Thank goodness she's OK. The so called
friends are obviously just jealous.

Good for Maddie for standing up to a jealous bully.
