We Borrow Money the Old Fashioned Way
We pay it back.
All of the automaker stuff (especially with the CEOs refusing to give up their millions) got me to thinking.
You know who I always thought would make a good president? Lee Iacocca.
I have no idea of his political leanings or beliefs and didn't then. But anybody who can come up with the Mercury Cougar (yeah, and the Mustang....) and offer to bring back Chrysler from the brink for $1 a year (and then proceed to do it!) is all right with me.
I used to like those commercials he did, even though I can't even remember anything about them now.

I thought you were going to say you buy something with a coupon, then return it without a receipt for extra money. That works too. Maybe the auto makers can raise some capital by shopping smart at BB&B!

I would never do that, even cheap bastards have scruples!sunflower wrote:I thought you were going to say you buy something with a coupon, then return it without a receipt for extra money. That works too. Maybe the auto makers can raise some capital by shopping smart at BB&B!
Although I will admit that I returned a printer cartridge to Mecca once because my printer wouldn't work with XP. It was unused and still in the box, but I didn't have a receipt and I don't know how long I'd had it.

Did Beast ever tell you about the Swiffer sweeper that was returned about a year ago....WheresFanny wrote:I would never do that, even cheap bastards have scruples!sunflower wrote:I thought you were going to say you buy something with a coupon, then return it without a receipt for extra money. With the original packaging design.....
From the late 90's.....?
He loves it when people start cleaning out their closets at the end of the month and use our liberal return policy as their own personal pawn shop....

I don't know if it's still the case, but Sears used to replace (I'm not sure about returns) anything of their brand whenever, didn't matter how old it was or if you had the receipts. People used to find stuff in the trash or out by the curbs and take it into Sears for new. I know they still give lifetime replacement on Craftsman, but I'm not sure about their other stuff.Gimme A Squiggly wrote:Did Beast ever tell you about the Swiffer sweeper that was returned about a year ago....WheresFanny wrote:I would never do that, even cheap bastards have scruples!sunflower wrote:I thought you were going to say you buy something with a coupon, then return it without a receipt for extra money. I hate the liberal Mecca return policy! I see people on line with baked goods, stuff that's totally trashed, not even in a box, or not from Mecca in the first place! One time a guy ahead of me had a bag of grapes in a King Sooper sack! We all end up paying for it in the long run.

Which is why I gave BiT some crap when he complained about Target's stricter return policy a while back. When are stores going to realize that the biggest BS ever uttered was "The customer is ALWAYS right".....?WheresFanny wrote:I don't know if it's still the case, but Sears used to replace (I'm not sure about returns) anything of their brand whenever, didn't matter how old it was or if you had the receipts.
