and never has it been so difficult to read the bored.

I find myself questioning, for the first time ever, whether the decision to consider those who post here as 'friends'.

Well, crap. I have never considered everyone here my friend. Some are, for sure, some are closer than friends (like close friends or 'a' listers or something) and some are 'people I know' and some are people I could stand not knowing and some are people I ignore.

People move from list to list on a sometimes daily basis.

If this was just a place for our collective friends, no one would be here.

There is a reason for the damned quotes around friends.

Oh, Eyegor, it's been almost 9 years since I first went to the BAM board.

In the beginning it was so much fun to converse with everyone and everyone was on their best behavior, will every but JamesBrianGriffin, lol.

I guess when you get a bunch of "A" type personalities together it's bound to happen. Although to be quite honest, I noticed a change many years ago. Right after the Jipterfest West in Vegas. Since I was not able to attend, I know not what happened. I've always respected the "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" motto, so I have not asked but have often wondered what went on that got so many upset. This is when I first noticed a change in the atmosphere on the board.

Then there was the squabble with TR, never knew exactly what that was about or what had so many upset, decided it was best to stay out of that also.

With each ensuing squabble it seems some fun leaves the board. I certainly do not post like I used to and this is one of the reasons. Heaven knows I have enough drama in my "real" life without going to the internet to find more.

I read these political post and just shake my head in bewilderment. Then I have to remind myself that I certainly did not act this badly when Dubya stole the presidency from Gore in 2000, I lived through the last 8 years of the Bush administration and somehow survived (although a lot did not). I'm certain that those whose candidates did not come out on top will not only survive but will get over their indignation of losing.

I'm not so certain this board will ever be the same.

On this side of the tracks, I can attest to the fact that we had more squabbles than you can shake a stick at during most of the Love Boat era.... and I'm not even talking about the election from hell in 2004 (Which made what occured here this year look very tame by comparison)....

We lost some good BB's in the process, but we survived and have grown....

The Bored, IMHO, is in as good of shape now as it has been since the good ol' days of the first half of 2001....

We still have some idiots and buffoons, but if everyone around here was pleasing as punch, it'd get boring in a hurry.....

Hey, you use the term "buffoon" as if it was a bad thing.

I am celebrating 51 years of buffoonery.

Now you're telling me that my life's work has all been in vain?

As a young whippersnapper to the bored, I'm waiting to hear how easy we have it now and how you used to have to trek 25 miles on foot through a blizzard to even post a message. And you didn't have ascii to help you but had to yell a series of zeros and ones into a oatmeal container attached to a string to other bored member's houses.

Oh don't be so silly. Oatmeal came in bags, not containers.

The hardest part of the olden days, was manually turning the knob to change the TV channel from channel A, to the other channel AFuzzy.

Anita, I was at Jipterfest West and I do not remember anything upsetting happening there. We had a great time there. If something did happen, I sure was not privy to it.

Lord knows, I have had a hiccup or two with some bored members over the years. However, I really started to notice changes in 2004, during the last election season. That is when some true colors started to surface for me.

Sorry, eyegor, I don't know exactly what you mean.

I also don't know what the comment about the Indian guy has to do with this conversation.

I got that you are disappointed in things some posters have said. That is really all I get.
