[George Burns]"Paper about Millionaire, Gracie?"[/GB] I must have missed this bit of news. Will there be a site where we can read the paper?

The paper about millionaire is just for a class, it was not the topic of my thesis.
Thanks for all the congrats.

I don't know what I will be doing next. I applied at a few TV stations here for an internship, but didn't get anything.

I am going to use the Ashton Kutcher method of dreaming big. He always said he developed TV shows and thought no way would he ever get them on TV, but he kept trying. His method is to dream big and don't give up and. He said he was never the smartest or the best person, but he didn't give up and somehow managed to be successful.

Think big and then when you get a no - think even bigger and so on.

Don't let the no's stop you - that is what Ashton did.

Sleeping with Demi didn't hurt.

And being a model didn't hurt, either. Of course, it lowered expectations down to Dude, Where's My Car level......

Congratulations on the Advanced Degree, and good luck on the job hunt. Never surrender!

A final test for you, geoffil. Are you really ready?
--------------
YOU KNOW YOU'RE READY TO GRADUATE FROM BUSINESS-SCHOOL WHEN:

1. You ask the waiter what the restaurant's core competencies are.

2. You decide to re-organize your family into a "team-based organization."

3. You refer to dating as test marketing.

4. You understand your airline's fare structure.

5. You write executive summaries on your love letters.

6. You think that it's actually efficient to write a ten page paper with six other people you don't know.

7. You believe you never have problems in your life, just "issues" and "improvement opportunities."

8. You know every single piece of clip art in PowerPoint.

9. You calculate your own personal cost of capital.

10. You explain to your bank manager that you prefer to think of yourself as "highly leveraged" as opposed to "in debt."

11. You ask your bank manager if she has heard of "Modigliani-Miller", and then you ask her if she has a pizza so you can show her.

12. You can explain to somebody the difference between "re-engineering", "downsizing", "right-sizing", and "firing people's asses".

13. You actually believe your explanation in number 12.

14. You enjoy using an HP-19B.

15. You refer to your previous life as "my sunk cost."

16. You believe CAPM is just as important as the Theory of Relativity.

17. You believe CAPM.

18. At your last family reunion, you wanted to have an emergency meeting about their brand equity.

19. You've decided the only way to afford a house is to call your fellow alumni and offer to name a room after them, if they'll help with the down payment.

20. You refer to your job rejections as the idiosyncratic risk you face.

21. You use the term "value-added" without falling down laughing.

22. You give constructive feedback to your dog.

23. You think about things in terms of "psychological ceilings."

24. It's becoming increasingly difficult to keep a straight face when you introduce yourself as a "graduate student" at parties.

25. You refer to drinking in public as a networking opportunity.

26. You come up with a five page internal transfer pricing mechanism with your roommates for the food and drink in your fridge.

27. You brainstorm your shopping list.
----------------
Congrats from one MBA to another!

Congratulations! If you have completed your degree requirements, why do you have to wait seven months to "graduate"? Why can't they just give you your diploma at the end of the semester?

Gsabc,

You are so funny. Your list brought back so many memories of my classes, finance, econometrics, strategic management etc. It was like you took all my classes.
Thanks!

Our finale was a weekend residency with a computerized business game. Sunday morning, after a very drunken Saturday night, the professors put a version of the list on our seats. They are soooo true.

I found this one on the web. I'll have to find my original, because I know at least one that's missing. It went something like "All your favorite reading material starts with 'Joe Stallworth stood in his office and looked out at the parking lot, wondering what went wrong ...'"

With several updates since, I don't know all the PowerPoint backgrounds anymore. But I was always partial to "Dad's Tie". :)

Keep chasing that dream!

And congrats on finishing the degree! I know this is something that you worked long and hard to accomplish, and you have every right to be proud of what you have done.

WTG!
