Were the APs still doing taped interviews that late in the season?

Yes, I believe I saw some auditioners who were held behind and then taken elsewhere for the videotaped auditions. I wasn't one of them.

They didn't explicitly mention the second auditions to the entire group, like they did during the "summer" auditions. I think they'd just quietly ask the chosen few to stick around a bit longer.

Why wouldn't they continue with the video taped 2nd interview?
I can't see them changing their process just because the season is almost over.

I thought if they still videotaped at the end of the season it might mean this year's contestants do stay in the contestant pool for next season. Marley, did you audition in the studio or cafeteria? I'm curious why auditioners were taken to a different area for the videotaped interview.

Technically, they do stay in the contestant pool for the next season, and some probably will be called for early taping dates. What we have observed over the show's history, though, is that the show's "memory" for people in the pool is not very good from season to season. New auditioners from each year's early auditions seem to be given precedence over most of the previous happy-postcard recipients.

That said, I think you should remain cautiously optimistic, because you do have some chance to be called for next year. I wish you the best of luck for getting that all-important call.

I think there is another location besides the cafeteria where they have done interviews in the past. While my fiance and I were waiting for our second interview, Jeremy---one of the APs-----came over to collect our consent forms and told us he would be bringing us to another location for our second interview shortly, but then came back and said since the camera was already set up, that we would be staying in the cafeteria. Congratulations on being in the pool!

Last summer, they took us through many winding passages to the actual Green Room to wait for the taped, second interview which was held in a room a few doors down the hall from the Green Room.

And that still led to an unhappy card for me. But it was exciting to at least get a peek at the inner sanctum.

I auditioned in the studio. I think they took the selected auditioners elsewhere because that's where they had the videocamera set up, plus doing it that way doesn't interfere with getting the second audience group into the studio for the 3:30 tapings.

I did my second hot seat day on Oct. 30. They were definitely doing taped interviews for auditions that day, because I was in the "isolation" room that they were about to use for that purpose...they were waiting for me to vacate it before the interviews! :)

Hope that helps.

I'm glad I got to see you tape that day, Eddington, even though we didn't actually get a chance to "meet". :)
