An ode to beast and Mini

I can't believe the thought to post this didn't come earlier -

Build Another Pyramid from "AIDA"

Sad to say our mighty ruler
Is not really in the pink
Hopes could not be minuscular
That he'll come back from the brink
Not to beat around the bush
He looks like heading for his box
At the risk of seeming pushy
We must plan for future shocks

According to the Hawk God Horus
Our most regal invalid
Is not that much longer for us
Build another pyramid

Build it, build it
Another pyramid
build it, build it

Though all doctors and physicians
Have been summoned to his bed
It'll soon be top morticians
We'll be calling for instead
With each wheeze the nation's humming
Egypt shakes with every cough
No two ways about what's coming
No discussion, bets are off

Soon our monarch will have filled the tomb
Just like his fathers did
Summon Egypt's greatest builder
Re: another pyramid

Build it, build it
Another pyramid
Build it, build it

We hate to depress the nation
But our leader has been told
He should scrub his next vacation
Even put tonight on hold
This is where his loyal priesthood
Has the chance to do him proud
Holy leaders at the least should
See him happy to his shroud

He must have a vault that's grand by
Any standards floor to lid
Put five thousand slaves on standby
Build another pyramid

Ha! I'm not familiar with this so, when I read those first two lines, I thought you'd adapted the lines to reflect their ongoing HK feud.

If it's a pyramid Tribe wants, then we'll give him one! :)

And how would one go about doing that?

Y'know, the notion that the pyramids were built by slaves was pretty much a Hollywood invention that has been pretty throughly debunked by now...

Another brick in the wall...

Well, I certainly need an excuse to post something. Why not add a brick?

We don't need no education
We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

Okay, I can't go back to the proper quote for obvious reasons, but.....

Slaves didn't build the pyramids? Really? You mean it really was engineering experts from advanced alien life forms?

The last line notwithstanding, this really is a serious question (I know!), I'm very interested.

Have we figured out when the pyramid is no longer a pyramid?

For Fanny:

Recent archaeological research indicates that the pyramids were built by teams of rotating labor forces, made up not of slaves, but of teams of young men from the whole spectrum of Egyptian society. Sort of like compulsory national service. Here's a pretty good link -- the stuff you're interested in is at the very end of the article:

I'm not disputing the archeological evidence, but I think that tale in Exodus might predate Hollywood by a few years.

Sidestepping the whole issue of biblical literacy, I will only say that I can find nowhere in the Bible that it says that Hebrew slaves worked at all on the pyramids.

I"m sad that Exodus has just become another opportunity for the snarky on each side to fire across the battlements again.

Not fair, Mr. K.

Marley has never been among the snarky. He has made efforts to dampen that sort of thing.

Yikes!

Didn't mean that to come across that way. My apologies, Marley, that at least one wise one read it that way.

No, I was referring to the websites I looked at to try to answer Marley's question in full, including infidels.org and answersingenesis. They reaaaally don't like each other, y'know?

I withdraw my comment. I believe you're correct that the word "pyramid" does not appear in the text, and the passages regarding bricks and straw are not relevant to the stone blocks used in the construction of the pyramids. Hollywood it is, then!

I did not intend to appear on the side of the literal-minded. I may have intended snarkiness.

No fights here but I do think Mr. K is technically correct. Exodus talks about the rebuilding of two cities: Pithom and Ramses. Whether or not they built the pyramids in those cities is up for interpretation.

An interesting speculation, for which I don't think evidence is even possible, let alone in existence, is that perhaps Hebrew slaves (if there were any) built the "worker cities" that the labor gangs that built the pyramids lived in.
