The Nebraska Unicameral is beginning its special session today to address our Safe Haven law.

So, the time is running out to take that "family trip" to Nebraska with the kids.

[We are at 35 kids left at hospitals, with a large number being teens from outside Nebraska.]

Technically, if you wanted to bring the not-so-wee-one down to the Land of Corn and "step away", you can.

(In reality, in these non-Nebraska cases, it seems like the child ends up going back to his or her state (country) and things are handled there.)

So I'll repeat the question I raised when this subject was discussed before: If there are desperate families who need this to reach out for help, why is there this push to close the loophole? It seems like much of the talk is of out-of-state families taking advantage of the state of Nebraska, but if the different states are working together to resolve these cases, what then?

The problem is that my kids are resourceful enough to get back home...

Plus, I sort of like having them around.

Even if I wanted to drop them off, I am not driving for over 10 hours, non-stop, with Annie & Molly in the car!

Well, I don't even see him online at the moment, so repeated shouting is of limited use.

And my question was open to the Bored community, if anyone else has an opinion on the matter.

Not that opinions have ever been in short supply in these parts.

And you never will, so waiting for that will leave you whistling Dixie for quite some time.

What do you mean, Fanny, that he logs on as Appa23 now or that he hides his online status, so that he only appears as a "guest"?

Either way, he does still read the Bored, from time to time. My question is there, if he (or anyone, aside from low-resolution Merry Men) cares to answer.

Hiding your online status does not make you show up as a guest. You show up as a "hidden" member.

Only 3 people on the Bored can see the hiddens on their browsing list....

He hasn't been here all morning that I've seen....

It's not exactly rocket science.

But I'm still happy to know that I can inspire fear in the administrator. Ha!

It's pretty easy to figure out when someone is actively posting and their name never appears that they are hidden. Fanny and I are examples.

Examples of lots of things, actually...........
