Not a vent. Nope, not me.

This will be a non-vent only because the weekend is young, and I may be ventish to a much larger degree tomorrow, or the day after.

That said, I do believe that I have earned extra credit points on Heaven's Entrance Exam for taking my mother on a two-hour trip to Wal-Mart, running around after her as she drove the motorized cart from one corner to the other and back again several times, and being struck by the cart once -- the result of a major tactical failure when I got in front of the cart while it was not moving -- while continuing to smile. When we got back to her living center, I had to make three trips, carrying as many bags as I could hold each time, to get her purchases to her apartment. I kept smiling. My jaw hardly hurts at all.

On the good side, I did manage to buy some Mucinex for my cold, plus some tiny filters and extra coffee and creamer for the baby coffee pot in my hotel bathroom.

Two hours at Wal-Mart has earned you all the points you need for anything.

I would like to see you in your own cart, playing chicken with your mom. Smashemup. And still smiling.

Oh, yeah -- bumper cars at Wal-Mart. I'd pay $$ for a ticket.

Hang in there, SC.

Yep, angel wings are waiting for you. While you were in Wal Mart you should have purchased a cheap, bigger coffee pot for the bathroom and then just thrown it away when you left.

You are a very good daughter. Vent whenever you feel like it. We're here for you.

This is a vent smoldering away under a calm surface.

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

You are strong enough to endure almost anything for a limited time.

You deserve much praise for enduring a trip to Wal-Mart for that long.

This too shall end.

Unitl the next time.

You da woman!
