Rockies trade Holliday

My baseball team traded one of my favorite players to the Oakland A's. I have mixed feelings about it. Holliday is a great offensive player, but the Rockies weren't going to be able to afford Holliday once his current contract was up. And his agent is Scott Boras, which greatly complicates any contract negotiation. In fact, if I was a small or mid-size market MLB owner, I don't know if I would ever sign a player who had Scott Boras for an agent.

The big question is, did the Rockies get enough for Holliday?

They did.
I was amazed that Billy Beane would make a deal like this. The biggest name for the Rockies would be Huston Street who'll be a good replacement for Brian Fuentes.
But the crux of the deal lies with Carlos Gonzalez and Greg Smith. Gonzalez is an extremely athletic guy in the vein of B.J. Upton. He's good and he'll get better. Smith is a good lefty who is probably a #3 starter right now but has potential to be a good #2.
All in all it's a great haul for a player who as you said the Rockies were gonna lose anyway.

I'm sorry to lose Holliday.

We'll see how it turns out. You never know if you're gonna be remembered for one of the worst trades in history.
