I have $1900 worth of See's Candy in my garage.
It's fun being a co-chair of Ways and Means. The biggest requirement is a large car.

Does this mean you don't have to sell (or
buy) that all yourself?

My first thought was that you had a crumb or two of a $100 Grand bar.

Nummmy! How much for a bar or box? After all, Mama See proclaims it "a happy habit"!

Is any of it those weird caramel-covered marshmallow things? My mom loves those and we can't get them here.

Ah, the incomparable "Scotchmallow"! Your mom has good taste! Now I'll have to run down to See's to get me one.

I have to admit that when I read the subject line I thought you might be trolling for children and if there were a rash of kids reported missing in So. Cal. I have to say it would have been very tempting to turn you in
Then I was reminded of a joke I heard a while ago (I think it was on a segment of Ira Glass - 'This American Life')
Hey kids - take it easy on the candy.

Actually, no. I "bought out" for a $80 donation to the band program. The people who didn't buy out have to sell $160 worth of candy. Most people opted to buy out, there are just a few families who want to sell candy, so I had to pick it up for them.

Those are Scotchmallows, which are Jeff's favorite type of candy!
Today when I picked up the candy, I got a special perk. Since I set up the band as a non-profit, I got a discount card to buy candy at a much lower rate at the See's Candy warehouse. (I was given six of these cards for the booster board.) The discount doesn't work on loose candy, but I can buy 1 pound boxes for a 27% savings.

It won't be my problem. The candy has been distributed.

At a former workplace, one colleague would take orders from interested parties around this time of the year and combine them all. She would then place a single order under the See's Quantity Discount Program. Not only was everything on the order sheet discounted, but we also were eligible for discounts from certain stores through the next year. We just needed to show a pay stub or ID card to prove employment. The program is described on Sees.com.
