Can I add LNT to my foe list?

#1 Post by sunflower » Wed Nov 12, 2008 8:46 am

10% off $200 at Linens N Things, I got the email last night.

Yeah, I'll need a little more incentive than that to go buy stuff at a store that is going out of business. $200?!?

At least it is on top of the "up to 40% off" already in place. I still think they're being cheap and stingy. Bah humbug!

Maddie and I went to Mervyns last night. They are also going out of business. The signs say 30% to 50% off, but I found few things for 50% off.

They wouldn't take one of my coupons, so I just bought the damn place.

Would you like to take it over? I'll let you keep 1% of the profits.....

We don't have Mervyns here, is it the same kind of store?

I did go to LNT a few days ago and I have to say, I am suspicious that they raised the prices on some things. They are higher than I remember, and then discounted 20 - 40%. Most items are still 20% off, which as we've commented on many times, isn't a deal since we always got that with the coupons anyway.

Mervyn's is like a Kohl's store.

And just where are those elusive "40% off" items anyway?

I'm going to the dentist in a little while and had planned on swinging by LNT on the way home for a cheap bastard follow up.

I'd take it to be more like a Ross or Marshall's. Kohl's is a wee bit higher up the scale, more like a JC Penney's.

Then again, I haven't been in any of those stores other than Kohl's in years (and that was just to return a blanket I received as a gift that crapped out a couple weeks later).

The Mervyn's stores around here were fairly nice because they were trying to compete with Kohl's.

Fanny I was going to offer to send you the coupon, but apparently it's online only and for 2 days only. LNT stinks.

Also on my foe list - "Womanizer" by Britney Spears.

Totally unrelated but as I was typing my last post it popped into my head and I can't get it out. It's got that annoying catchiness that sticks with you.

Ha ha, the joke's on you. I LOVE going to the dentist!!!

I went to the dentist for the very first time at the tender age of 20 and it's been one of my favourite things to do ever since.

You really think that I'm not on every mailing list imaginable to get coupons and special deals? Even though they usually suck (although Bath and Bodyworks gives good ones every once in a while).

You totally underestimate my cheap bastardability, woman!

OMG--are you sure we're not related?!? I have a horrible gag reflex and the x-rays are a nightmare, but I love going to the dentist, too!

Hahaha sorry, didn't mean to underestimate!!!

Speaking of bath and body, I just got 20% friends and family in email, but I got $10 off $30 in the mail which is better unless I spend over $50.

The stores are going crazy with free stuff, I just got $10 free at Victoria's Secret, 2 coupons for $15 free at The Limited, $10 free at PF Changs and free truffles at Godiva. And that was all in Monday's mail.

Mervyn's used to be owned by Dayton Hudson (now Target). They sold it off in 2004.

I'm a cheap vacationer!

Next up--free room for two nights in Atlantic City. $89 in slot credits for me, $125 for my sister (she spends more). Twenty in cold hard cash from a casino a few doors over, plus $10 in food credit from that company. Two-for-one buffet down the street.

Too bad the video poker sucks in AC...

I always thought Ross and Marshall's are cheap because they sell factory seconds and discontinued stuff. Not so with Mervyn's.

I'm either a cheap vacationer or a luxury vacationer, I have 2 extremes. It depends where I'm going and why. I love getting free stuff, in general, it's such a thrill for me to get good deals!

I heard this song for the first time last night. Most of the music of the past 15 years or so I had to hear for a while for it to really grow on me.... but I have to say, this one I actually like right off the bat.

Maybe I wouldn't want to hear it more than a couple times a week, but it pleases me, and that's all I ask of music....

Oh, you'll get over that soon enough. This was the song I was using to try to trepan my nephew with last night. Womanizer can accomplish hole in the head syndrome quicker than anything since Four Minutes. Except that had Timbaland, so it was halfway decent. And, I must say, I don't hate Justin Timberlake.
