I told Emma...

I told Emma that I would take her to Disneyland today, since she has the day off and her sister doesn't.
When she was six or seven she would have been up at 6:00 a.m. so that we could be at the park when the gates opened.
She opted to sleep in.

Without Play It!, the "attraction" isn't the same, I guess.

We went to Google Videos last night so Erin could "ride" Pooh and Pinocchio and all her faves. She'da been up at 4 am if you made her that same offer....

Oh, wait--she WAS up at 4 am. But went back to sleep. She has nightmares and talks in her sleep, so I know her dreams had to do with "Give me Dora," "Daddy, Daddy, that's mine!" and "Andrew, Andrew, stop it!"

For us, that's true, but you'll recall that Emma is the only member of the Placentia household who
wasn't addicted to that particular attraction.
And who got dragged there, time after time, nonetheless.

Oh, dear!
The menfolk in your family are stealing Erin's toys?

Poor Emma.

The park was not that crowded in the morning so we went on Pirates, Hanunted Mansion, and then Splash Mountain. We always go look at the candy store by Splash Mountain to see what they have and while we were looking, I noticed that they were selling Pooh Bears like the one that I had as a child, although mine was named Bear Reiter.
She told me to get one, I said no.
We went on Pirates again, I showed her the door to Club 33, then we had brunch at Cafe Orleans (she had beignets and I had Spicy Eggs Benedict.)
We went holiday shopping in the store by the Jungle Cruise. This particular store sells Roxy and Quicksilver stuff and with passholder discounts, it's quite cheap. After shopping we got fast passes to Buzz Lightyear, then bought a few pins at the pin store.
We had to wait to be able to ride on Buzz Lightyear, so we went over to Small World, which didn't have a line. The boats have five rows, but Emma and I noticed that they were leaving the row in the middle empty. Emma didn't complain about having to go on the ride, like she usually does.
After Small World, we went on Buzz Lightyear and did very well! Both of us scored over 600,000 points and were ranked 21 (689,100 points) and 23 (650,600) for the day.
Next we got a candy apple to split, and Emma insisted that before we leave the park that I buy the bear that was like Bear Reiter, so I did. (She said that I would regret not getting him since I have few items from my childhood and if I didn't buy him, she would.)
Next was a trip to Downtown Disney where we went to Sephora for last minute items for her upcoming 6th grade camp trip, followed by a trip to Basin for bath stuff.
Emma kept on thanking me for the day, she said it was one of the best days that she has ever had.

How special you got to have a one-on-one day with her. It's important for kids, as she obviously let you know. YOu're doing a good job with those two!

Thank you.
Hopefully she will remember the days like today when she is older, rather than the days which aren't as nice.

Oh, trust me, she'll remember both, but
rather than the days which aren't as nice.
those are the ones you'll hear about later...

No water on the TV this weekend and you're ahead of the game.
Sounds like a great day for both of you.

I'm glad she persisted about the bear.

Sounds like a charming day.
I thought Pirates was closed while they cleaned the person's ashes out of it, even though the woman claimed it was baby powder.
Or was that just for a day?

What a fun day! I'm glad she made you get the bear - every time you look at it you'll remember both your own childhood, and the thoughtfulness of your daughter.

Not today.
I actually still have my Dad's ashes in my hall closet. I have been tempted to take them to Pirates, a bit at a time, because he loved the ride, but I was afraid that I would get caught.
