Lyrically Speaking Day 1 Answers and Points

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Sat Nov 08, 2008 11:11 am

Welcome to LYRICALLY SPEAKING Day 1

Here are the answers to Day 1.

1. But tonight we'll be free
All the promises will be broken
There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away

THUNDER ROAD - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

2. Oh, oh, the highway runs so clear
Oh, oh, the river from there to here
I'll tell you a story from the heart and from the bone
And I will tell you everything on, oh

THE ROAD HOME - HEART

3. Images of sorrow, pictures of delight
Things that go to make up a life
Endless days of summer, lonely nights of gloom
Waiting for the morning light
Scenes of unimportance, photos in a frame
Things that go to make up a life

HOME BY THE SEA - GENESIS

4. Do you remember when we met?
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I wanna tell you just how much I love you

SEA OF LOVE - PHIL PHILLIPS, THE MARCELS, THE HONEYDRIPPERS AND SEVERAL OTHERS

5. Someone to love
Somebody new
Someone to love
Someone like you

LOVE ME DO - THE BEATLES

6. First off, let me say congratulations
Heard that you just had a baby girl
If she looks anything like her mother
She's the prettiest thing in the world

DO YOU - NE-YO

7. So many nights, I sit by my window
Waiting for someone to sing me his song

YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE - DEBBY BOONE

8. From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver lights
Knock me down, get back up again
You're in my blood, I'm not a lonely man

LIFE IS A HIGHWAY - TOM COCHRANE OR RASCAL FLATTS

9. Well, another day, another dollar
After I've sang and hollered
Oh, it's my way of living
And I can't change a thing

HIGHWAY SONG - BLACKFOOT

10. Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice
And before you know it, start to feeling good
You simply got no choice

SONG SUNG BLUE - NEIL DIAMOND

In other words, the list boils down to "Thunder Road Home By the Sea of Love Me Do You Light Up My Life Is a Highway Song Sung Blue".

Humor points were awarded to Beebs, Fanny and T_Bone. If the rest of you had been funny, your scores would be higher.

And how could I defend my cherished position in the LS cellar that way? :P

Thank you, sir. I feel encouraged to persevere. Maybe something will get pulled out of my butt that's an actual answer.
Well, then

A chain reaction type game was one of the themes I wanted to do in my next LS, but I gave up when I couldn't even get halfway through the list using songs I was at least somewhat familiar with....

And given how many of these songs I was unaware of, I may as well give up any attempt to do one.....

And JJ CALE, but that goes without saying.
We, the HK Brigade, do hereby salute you, Marley, for your steadfast devotion to ontopicosity. Well done, sir!

Yeah, yeah, I forgot to include LeDoux, but he was acceptable, of course. As for JJ Cale...well....I'll take your word for it. Someday, I'll have to look him up and see what he's REALLY done (besides everything). :-)
