The Obama Family Dog

It's fairly easy to google up a list of dog breeds touted as "hypoallergenic." Most of the lists I've found tend to focus on small dogs. I note, however, that some larger breeds are included for their tendency to shed very little, including standard poodles and . . .

Greyhounds!

For the same characteristic of stingy shedding, Italian greyhounds and whippets also would qualify.

Let's put a sighthound in the White House! America deserves no less.

Great minds think alike!

I wrote a letter yesterday suggesting that they rescue an adult greyhound!

Not a lot of people know about the greyhound rescue program.
It's funny because two different people have mentioned it to me in the past
week, and both of them said they had never heard of being able to do that.
They also mentioned being sure to get a cat friendly one. She also said that
they don't bark. That was the first time I had heard that, even with all the
interest we've had in them around here.

Greyhounds can bark. Most of them just don't get riled up easily. Part of that, I think, is because as big dogs, they aren't afraid of as many things as tiny dogs, which sometimes develop an aggression based on insecurity in a world where everything seems huge.

As you know, Annie vocalizes a lot with nasal and throaty noises at a conversational level -- because she has a lot to say. She saves most of her barking for Evil Squirrel, however, because he lives in a tall tree and might not hear her unless she yells.

I, of course, didn't argue the point since I really didn't know.
Thanks for the explanation! :)

Zap has barked five times since we have adopted him.

The first time was when he met the cats.

The second time was when I left him outside for too long.

The third time was at the Placentia Heritage Parade when some guy rode by on a motorized skateboard and scared him.

The fourth time he barked, we were playing hide and seek. He ran around the house following me and I went into the living room and sat in a chair, he thought that I ran up the stairs and ran after me. He looked down saw me sitting in the chair, walked right up to me and barked in my face.

The fifth time he barked, Ritterskoop and Emma were Wii Boxing and he thought they were hurting each other.

Today we were at Hemopet's Bubble Bath Day, an event where adopted dogs can get a bath, a nail trimming and an ear cleaning for a $20 donation. (We saw Xamine and Ocean, two dogs that we knew who had been adopted with their owners!) There is also shopping for greyhound related items and the dogs can get their pictures taken with Santa. The dogs are all very quiet but all of a sudden today many of them started barking. Why? Because a non-greyhound came to the event and tried to crash their party. Zap didn't bark though, he's fairly quiet.

Does Annie blow puffs of air? Zap does and it's so cute, except at 3:00 a.m. when I am trying to sleep.
