The choice is clear
The time is nigh
Only Arlen can restore professionalism and integrity to the Justice Dept.

Is he physically able to do the job?
I know you wouldn't back him so the Gov. of Pa. could appoint a Democratic replacement, right?

You're just trying to do whatever you can to get the D's to a filibuster-proof number in the Senate.

Arlen is the choice irregardlessly of who won.
And it is an elegant choice for these reasons:
Arlen will probly retire when his term is up in 2012.
It will give him the chance to stick it to the GOP who were unenthusiastic about his last run.
Fast Eddie will appoint himself.
and most importantly, it will prevent JoePa from running for his seat.

It looks now as if Merkley will win in Oregon (up by 37,000 with 80% of the vote counted and papers calling it for him). Norm Coleman has a 450 vote lead on Al Franken with a recount coming. However, vote tallies in MN have proved very accurate in the past (the last statewide recount only resulted in a seven-vote change), so he's probably in. Final totals in GA aren't in but Chambliss is about 12,000 short of what he needed, so that a runoff appears likely.
If these results hold as they are now, the Senate stands 57-42 with the Georgia runoff.
This assumes that Joe Lieberman remains in the Democratic column.

The make-up of Congress in numbers is almost exactly what it was when Bill Clinton first came in in 1993.
And we saw what troubles he had in getting parts of his agenda through...AND the fiscal and economic environment was much better back then than it is today.
Anyone that thinks Congress will be a rubber stamp for any kind of radical leftist agenda by Obama (if one assumes Obama is a radical leftist) had better think again.
We'll see if Obama has any statecraft whatsoever...he's going to need it!

I'm surprised he's not even older than Specter.

What the christ does this "typing" have to do with Arlen Specter being Attorney General?!?!??!!?
It is not possible to have a filibuster proof Senate as long as there are boll weevil Democrats
