"I used to always watch the show back when I was in college," Mr. Wicklein said. "I was shocked (to be on the show). I didn't expect them to call me back."
Used to watch it?

and what about this quote from the article?
"What we're kind of looking for is somebody that the home audience is going to want to root for, someone they can relate to," said Jennifer Weeks, a producer for the show who also conducts the road auditions. "We want a contestant who can really engage with the material, who's excited to be in the seat."
The multiple-choice test is designed to make sure the contestant knows enough trivia to be on the show, and the interview is a chance to get to know the contestant's background and personality, she said.
"We're looking for contestants of all walks of life," Ms. Weeks said.

Yeah, I've heard Jen say that before.
So I'm not someone the home audience can root for. And they can't tell how excited I'd be in the Hot Seat, because that's entirely different from my excitement at being in an interview.
<sigh>

It's just like most things where an audition is required - it's all
subjective. Not necessarily fair, but that's just the way it is.
So when are they bringing back the phone game???

Hey now, none of the stations here carry WWTBAM, and D.C. just started in September. You'll notice the article doesn't say when their readers can watch it like most do.
Yeah for another auditioner at the Arundel Mills Mall!

Have the Baltimore stations never aired SyndieBAM or did they recently stop airing it?

I believe they used to at 10:30 in the morning, but not since 2006.
