With a sigh, I must concede.
Today I heard one of the early exit polls which reported that close to 60% of those interviewed said that
government is not doing enough.
All I can do is shake my head. My avatar expresses it all.

Have heart Sir G, in 4-8 years those in power will be out of favor again, and the group you prefer will be back in. There are enough checks and balances that no one can screw up too badly.
I hope you become more optimistic in time.
I don't like it when youare so down.

It's not so much about losing one election. It's disheartening that so many people want BIG government. In both parties. They just want their BIG government to do different BIG things.

I agree about people wanting BIG government ... for the issues that affect them and their pocketbook (or their elderly parents).
I think we just have to work hard to make sure that our BIG GOVERNMENT is fair and economically and ethically prudent.
I don't think that Americans understand the pricetag of BIG GOVERNMENT, though. I live near the Canadian border and the Canadians' 15% sales tax would not go down well with most Americans.
