130 Million + !!!

It looks like this election will draw between 130 and 132 million voters - an increase of 8-10 million from 2004 - an all-time high.
I attribute this to 3 things -
A large group of voters were excited by Obama and got involved in the process this year - although I don't always agree with him on the issues, I think his ability to inspire disaffected voters has been a huge plus of his campaign. If they sustain their interest in governmwnt I think we will have a better country.
Things are so crappy people want to be involved.
There are more people eligible to vote.
I think issue one did more than issue two.

I'm saving all my free stuff tonight...I had to rush into work after waiting in line to vote, so it will be a nice treat to get a coffee and an ice cream later! Krispy Kreme is too far away so I'll be saying no to the donut.

Only certain lucky people in the south get chicken...
While you're in the South, find one of the 85 branches of Shane's Rib Shack where your "I voted" sticker is worth a Vote America Meal -- three chicken tenders, french fries and 20-ounce drink! (Their slogan is "It's gonna get messy". Let's hope that only refers to the food - not a recount.)

Here in Georgia, many of the freebie promotions have backed down because the Secretary of State (who is a Republican) has sent around a press release stating that offering people incentives such as free merchandise to vote is considered a bribe under Georgia law.
Shanes changed their promotion so that the first 300 people at each location today, regardless of whether they voted (or even whether they were over 18) would receive a free chicken tender meal. Others are doing the same.

That's why Ben & Jerry's was really offering it to everyone, all along. They have it as their "I voted" promo but they said that due to uncertainty with state laws, anyone who comes in between 5 - 8 and asks for it will get a free scoop.

Since there were no "I voted!" stickers available at my polling place, it would be impossible for me to prove that I did. I have never even seen such stickers around here.
'Tsokay. I can survive without the food, and that sex toy business doesn't have any stores in my area.
