With this election, I feel like...

Charleton Heston at the end of Soylent Green or...
Rod Taylor in the land of the Eloi in The Time Machine or...
Kevin McCarthy in Invasion of The Body Snatchers.
In each of these movies, the noted star would run around trying warn the people in his particular situation. Yet, the
people blindly ignored him and just went about their business as if nothing alarming was happening.
That's how I feel with this election. I feel that the foundations on which this country was founded are slowly slipping
away. The Constitutional tenets are being ignored at every turn. And we are on the verge of possibly electing
someone that wants to create a "New Constitution." And to have him at the helm of the ship with the likes of
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chuck Shumer, Chris Dodd and others as high-ranking officials just scares the
living hell out of me.

I remember when Harv was ushering all those celebrities on the Concorde 8 years ago that threatened to leave the US if Bush was elected. Cracked me up......

You will find a way to cope. You will find a way to make a difference. You will work through whatever you need to work through.
That is the American way. You are a good American.

I'm with you there. This election season has given me more headaches than I care to count. I have always believed that the majority of America will see this fraud for what he is. I will continue to believe that until the American people prove me wrong.

Don't forget, he's a terrorist who wants to eat your babies, enslave the white race, and wrench your hard-earned money from your trembling hands with a maniacal laugh to distribute it to miscreants, drug addicts, and welfare queens. Oh no wait, that all sounds like science fiction too.

Oh come on, it is funny stuff. If we can't laugh at ourselves and the way our country's going we're all gonna be reall depressed real soon.
You have to at least be able to laugh at what you can't control.

Come on, the guy is hurting.
He thinks he knows the way things should be.
It looks like they are not going to be that way for a bit of time.
You would be or were similarly upset in your life.
Give him some room to be upset or worried and afraid.

That was funny...
I'm reminded of Robert DeNiro's first lines in
The Untouchables, playing Al Capone
Well, l tell ya, it's touching.
Like a lot of things in life,
we laugh because it's funny,
and we laugh because it's true.

This country survived (barely) 8 years of George W. Dumbass, I have no doubts that it could survive four years of Gary Busey (with Britney Spears as VP) if push came to shove.

This has been going on for some time- and those doing it are not isolated in one party.
it will continue to happen whether McCain wins or Obama wins.

Not at all. I think it would take a very, very "special" person to do the kind of job that you've done.

I'm sorry. I know it's very serious for you. But when you start out comparing this election to an ivasion of pods from outer space or a system for processing and eating human flesh, you cannot be surprised or offended if some people think your attitude is ... shall we say ... a little over the top.
If you truly have faith in the American system, you have to be able to swallow it if that system occasionally delivers somebody into office you don't like. I've learned to do it. Now it's your turn. One day, it will be my turn again.

I wrote something snarky that I take back.
I share pea's sentiments. Sir G is scared and worried and we should give him space to be scared and worried. And hyperbolic.
And I share Frank's feeling that I am sorry he feels that way.
And I share Jeemie's feelings that the Constitution has been under attack for a while now (and I believe it certainly was under Bush's White House).
I have the reverse of Sir G's feelings, however.
I AM petrified.
The idea of a President Palin scares me beyond belief. And I am convinced that John McCain would die in office.
That said, madammeisha was pretty funny.

Brittney was just too young to run with a former Congressman from N.E. Texas, J. J. Pickle. I would have loved to see the Pickle/Spears ticket.
