#1 Post by Bob Juch » Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:20 pm

A juror who vanished during Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens' corruption trial told the judge Monday she lied about her father dying and flew to California to see horse races.

Um, Jeems, the trial was in D.C. Isn't that down from where you are?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

So, it's OK for the juror to do something like that and then come
back and brag about it?? No consequences whatsoever??

Damn it- that's right- it was, wasn't it?

Then that makes more sense- it's DC (which I am NOT from).

Did you read the story? She's a nut case.

Will her erratic behavior have any effect on the appeal?

Probably not because she was dismissed and didn't participate in the deliberation.

I'm sure the defence will try though.

I agree with your conclusion but you've stated the facts imprecisely. She originally did participate in deliberations. When she was dismissed from the jury, though, they jury had to restart deliberations from scratch.

Given the high-profile nature of the underlying case, it wouldn't surprise me at all if charges were filed against her. --Bob
