Boy Bands looks like a good question to ask the audience on. Chill Out sounds like a perfect question for Bill Nye.

$16K: I used to live in Philadelphia, so I know for sure that it is not that. I've been to Baltimore many times. I think it's B-More, but I want confirmation from PAF first.

I'm curious how many of us here knew that there was an "original" Washington Monument. Isn't an obelisk an obelisk? How much design is involved, other than maybe means of construction and support?

Boston would have been a truly evil distractor, with the Bunker Hill Monument and the publicity of the new bridge with its towers topped by miniature replicas.

I knew it, but I drive by it every day. It's a point of hurt pride in Baltimore that we have the original Washington monument obelisk, and the D.C. one is a Georgie-come-lately. But I wouldn't expect anyone to know that who didn't live in Baltimore.

Our obelisk is different. Its much smaller, for one, and it has a statue of Washington on the top instead of an aluminum cap.

Another trivial Baltimore fact: We also have a World Trade Center, in the Inner Harbor. But ours is shaped like a pentagon.

I thought it was a tough question for the $16K level. But I always think something I know must be easy and something I don't know must be hard. I didn't know this one, but I googled it on Shade's taping day and had the answer in about 5 seconds.

This seems like something that would be very easy for Baltimore residents and very hard for everyone else. I'm not sure if there's a fair way to include questions like that, or if it's just another element of luck that is inherent in this game format.

I haven't seen this episode yet, since I'm in Norway. I hope I taped it.

Congratulations on getting the chance many of us are still questing for in vain. I'm sorry it didn't turn out quite the way you wanted.

Hey all, I forgot that my episode transcript would be posted here. Thanks for all of your positive comments.

I'm still mourning the loss of my hopes and dreams. My brother, stupidly used Wikipedia rather than Googling, he could not come up with the answer fast enough from Wiki so he just went with what my father's friend Susan thought the answer was. Don't ask why I didn't call Ed, I don't know why I didn't either.

What reminded me to check here is that I just got the mail and I had the bittersweet experience of opening my check for 1000 dollars... 1000 dollars is a lot of money and it's very difficult to win that kind of money on conventional contests and sweepstakes but I'm still horribly disappointed at the way I handled things.

Wow, you got your check fast!!! Congrats on the win and don't beat yourself up too much, it was a tough question and you shouldn't be upset. At least we're not all saying "I knew that"...I didn't even know there was an original and I'd have no idea where it was!!

Jason, repeat after me: "It is what is is."

This wasn't the culmination of your dreams nor a way to fund your retirement before you've even had your first full-time job. This was preparation for something else in store for you down the line. You may recognize that after "something else" happens, whenever it does.

You don't have to beat yourself up, and don't be miffed with your brother, either, as he did the best he could do in that particular 30 seconds of your lives.

You did succeed in getting on the show, which is an unfulfilled dream of many, and you got a check for a round number that's big enough to treat yourself to something special. Even though you were not as big a winner as you had hoped, you are a winner. Don't ever forget it.

I remember your show, and I thought you played the game well. The question that stopped you probably would have stumped a sizable majority of non-Baltimore residents. It stumped me, and I made it to 100 grand. (Not that I am any genius)
I know this is easier said than done, but try to live for today. I don't know the source of this quote but I try to live by it, "The past is a canceled check, the future is just a promissory note, God only gives you today, and that is why it is called "the present."

Hello all, I recently got an email from the administrator of this "bored" and I was reminded of it's existence. I'd like to thank the person who transcribed my episode again. I have my run on Youtube but only after the 1000 dollar question and oddly enough I have since completely forgotten some of the questions I faced before 1000. 5 years later this is a great thing to look back on, it's really hard to believe it's been 5 years it feels like just yesterday I was having a Homer Simpson "D'OH!" moment as I answer the 16k question incorrectly.

Retrospectively I am still incredibly proud of myself and it is such a fond memory. One thing I still ask myself from time to time is "I wonder if Bill Nye would have known that one!" Lol!

You must have did your run with Regis if you were on 12 years ago, that's pretty awesome though. I wish had been able to do my run when the show's format was pure and uncorrupted by the whims of a bored production team
