There's a way to handle it when you get an expert who doesn't appear knowledgeable. Use her early, on the theory that she'll probably know the easier pop culture questions that one would normally use the audience for. After all, the ultimate goal is for each lifeline to get you through one question, and you don't really care in what order you use them as long as you accomplish that goal.

This stack was a perfect example. With a strong expert, it was correctly played. With this one, though, I think it would have been better to use the ATE first (particularly for a TV question). I'm guessing the audience would have come through on the video game question. --Bob

What the hell is "Telemark Skiing"?

$16K: I don't play "Grand Theft Auto". Liberty City sounds familiar, but I better ask the audience first.

Telemark skiing is a special kind of binding, akin to cross-country skiing rather than the usually seen Alpine style. I'd bet the question was where the name comes from (a region in Norway).

Again, I'm with you on this stack, Nelly. ATA on Grand Theft Auto, but no problemo on the others. Seeing "Recent TV" would have worried me, but the question was simple.

Nice name for a restaurant.

I guess she's been busy keeping her restaurant going.

I also remember back in the day when PTBAM was on opposite CSI there was a discussion about William Peterson's acting ability.

Tough question for the expert. I believe that Liberty City is the setting for all of the GTA games.

I'd be going for $25K with all lifelines still available.
