not just Halloween creepy

A murder victim was just located in a overgrown vacant lot, 100 yards from my new office. Lots of police and crime scene tape out there now. The witness I talked to thinks its probably been there since late August. Likely connected to two other murders for which an arrest has been made.

Kirk had recently moved into a new Gaillard Street apartment and was employed by Wallace’s Old Fashioned Skins on McCurdy Road. She was reported missing by her sister to Florence police Oct. 14 and hadn’t been seen or heard from since Oct. 9.

Kirk’s friend, Samuel, of 304 Campbell St., was last seen by her roommate at her home Sept. 18.

Samuel’s sister reported her missing Sept. 29. Her sister and co-workers said she hasn’t come home or gone to work. Police said the last place they know Samuel went was to a dentist appointment in Florence.

On Monday, Florence police said Kirk’s cousin, 35-year-old Janie Mae Dixon, was reported missing by her sister Sept. 8. She was last seen at 134 N. Aiken Drive in Florence. About 5 feet 7 inches tall, she has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a brown tank top and blue denim jeans.

Even her employer sounds like something out of "Silence of the Lambs."

Sure, they SAY they are pork skins.

Sort of like when trying a new Korean restaurant, you want to see a few stray cats nearby first.

The comments after the article say that Florence is the 5th most dangerous metro area in the U.S. and that 18 more police officers were supposed to be hired to handle the gang problem. What's going on down there? There wasn't much crime when I was down there working at Fleet Mortgage.
