I don't know but I saw two (TWO!) people driving Smart Cars on th Pennsylvania Turnpike on Friday.

I am not sure the Pennsylvania Turnpike at rush hour is really where I would drive a Smart Car.

Especially in the right-hand lane right before the turnoff for the Northeast Extension. The lane with all the really big semis.

google says around 17K.

Did you hear Drew say that there is a one year waiting list for the cars?

I saw one the other day, mainly because I thought its parking slot was empty. It was between two SUVs. I would not be willing to pit myself against Boston/Massachusetts traffic in one.

Old physics joke: What is the result of a collision between a Cadillac heading east at 50 mph and a Volkswagen Beetle heading west at 40 mph?
Spoiler
A Cadillac heading east at 50 mph, and a Volkswagen Beetle four inches high.

I had no clue how much a Smart Car cost. I bid $22,207 on that Showcase and still missed it by $9,000.

I would not drive one on any highway. But it does seem like a good car for in town driving.

A one year wait list is quite a while.

We have a dealer nearby and there seems to be an increasing number of them.

I am all for little, fast, maneuverable cars. I drive a little, maneuverable car. Hey, it used to be fast. However, I would not pay 17K for a tuna can. For that kind of money I could get a brand new, oh, I don't know, Honda Fit or Toyota Yaris (hold nose at both) which have way less crumplability. Actually, I hope I can can get one for way less than 17K.

I did look up a used Honda Accord hybrid coupe, which is what I really want (next best thing to new Integra, because there is no such thing as a new Integra) & found out that not only are they not making Accord hybrid coupes anymore either (which I already knew) but that the used ones are going for 22K & so forth. Ulp. Oh well. Champaign tastes & all that.

Maybe I find out what is the fastest, cheapest used Civic?

Scion (of Toyota ancestry) had a coupe in their line when it 1st came out. Cost more than the little box one, & that was years ago already. Haven't seen many on the streets, & have seen the boxes.

The smart cars are cute but I agree I would not want to be in more than 35 mph situations in them. They do have an up-high feeling that some folks would like.
