No electoral/WS connection

I recall years ago hearing that if a team from a given league won the world series, then it was always the case that a given party won the presidential election.
Well, t'aint so.
Including 1908, there have been 25 presidential elections.
In those years, the AL team has won 16 times, the NL has won 9 times.
When the American League team wins the WS, the Republican presidential candidate has won 10 times.
When the National League team wins the WS, the Democrat presidential candiate has won 5 times.
That's the prevailing, but hardly a definitive, predictor.
My advice to McCain- flip Pennsylvania and root for the Rays. But neither may work.
