Back from England

A few notes:

We stayed in a little village (I wouldn't call it a town) called Benington. It is basically a road with cottages along it, and a pub at either end. And a church, which we attended on Sunday, built sometime around 1350. There has been a church on the site since the 800's.

We explored Cambridge and Oxford. In Oxford, we took a pint at the Eagle and Child, which was the pub frequented by CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien and the other Inklings for many years. They called it the Bird and Baby. There is a letter over the fireplace signed by Lewis and Tolkein telling the owner they'd drunk to his health some day in 1949.

Had a proper pub lunch (slab of beef, two types of potatoes) on Sunday- listening to the crowd, it was like being in a road company of My Fair Lady. Monday, had a great meal- would have to call it "Nouveau Anglais." English specialties done up, and done well.

Gone 4 days, felt like at least a week. In a good way.

Welcome back, nitrah!

Warning: Some folks have learned the secret of your screen name while you were gone! 8)

Sheesh!

Everything tastes good with a pint in an English pub.

Read this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=1040

But be warned that some of the images in there might be somewhat shocking!

Ok, I still do not get it and I went to the thread Marley provided later in this thread.

55Hartin??? Still no clue. Born in 1955 at Hartin hospital? Is this a car?

Last name?

Did you read all of the thread? Beast was also asking for further hints. :)

Ya, I did and I am still clueless. I even just went back and read the thread again.

I think you're missing page 2, where you can find:

nitrah has also been explained, although that might not make much sense if you've never met him or been told his real name.
The only explanation I've seen is that the meaning is in the name backwards. I'm guessing it doesn't make sense to me for the reasons you listed....
That's a good guess! :)

I am with Kusch. Unless Nitrah is simply hartin, I don't get it.

And I am pretty sure I have met him.

I think. :)

Maybe I should have put that in sarcafont.

Anywho, we only had a couple of beers, so I really do remember meeting him. And anyway, I am pretty sure I met him earlier at my first audition. Right Nitrah?

The mind is the first thing to go! That or the waistline.

Just to defuse the confusion, "hartin" is my last name. "55" is the year I was born, which makes me not quite as old as Pea. (heh, heh)

Christie and I have met twice, both at auditions.

And, as long as I'm doing the full disclosure stuff, and since we've already had one BB plug a book in recent weeks, I'll plug one of mine:

Any other questions?

Awww. Now you've ended all the indirect allusions and teasing.

But it was a good opening for plugging your book! 8)

At leats I'm not the only one with an unimaginative screen name! (LOL!)

Mine's just a blending of my initials and last name- and was a nickname given to me by my college roomates.
