Once upon a time there was a lull between the end of one fiscal year and the demands of the next, but not this year. At least for me, that is. Probably because it's election season we have been getting slammed with various data calls, plus we're being visited by AAA next week. No, not the American Automobile Association - the Army Audit Agency. They want to look at our procedures for closing out contracts and returning excess money to the funding organization. Evidently there's this belief that Department of Defense contracting organizations are sitting on a huge pile of money (known as "unliquited obligations" - money set aside for contracts but not yet spent). So the auditors want to look at our procedures and see if we have piles of cash squirreled around somewhere. So I've been pulling data right and left. The good news is that we don't have any piles of cash lying around.

It would be better if you did. We could certainly use it, right now.
