Denver let Kansas City roll over them the same way. Their defense has been awful all season.

But really, Denver's plight is a microcosm for the NFL this year.

There's no one team that you look at and just say "Wow- they're really good- they're unstoppable".

Every team has warts. The phrase "On any given Sunday..." has probably never rung more true than this year.

Well for those who say coaching doesn't matter, just look at the Rams. Two weeks ago, you'd have rated the Rams below the Lions. Now they are a completely different team and a threat to anyone on their schedule.

The Lions should have cleaned house and not just made Millen the scapegoat.

And the Giants barely beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl. For the Rams to go into Washington and beat the Redskins who were playing about as well as anyone in the league is impressive.

The Rams won't be going to the playoffs, but they won't be an easy W for teams anymore either.

I would not be surprised if the Eagles and Andy Reid parted ways after this season.

Despite owner Jeffrey Lurie's delusion that the Eagles are "the gold standard," fans are getting very frustrated by Reid's play calling. And drafting, including Andy's penchant for trading away first-round draft choices.

The Eagles just released Tony Hunt, last year's third-round draft choice. While the drafts of the last two years haven't been bad (not good, but not bad), the drafts for the three or four years before that provided (I think) one or two current Eagles.

Andy the coach insists on a pass-oriented game plan. Andy the GM won't trade for/draft the caliber of receiver that Donovan McNabb needs to have.

Eespecially because he's not the McNabb of old who can take off and run when he's in trouble. Or when Brian Westbrook is hurt and cannot provide much-needed balance.

And not even making an effort to get Tony Gonzales -- which would have given McNabb a real weapon at TE (no disrespect to LJ Smith who, I am sure, is a nice guy who loves his mother but is no Tony Gonzales).

You hear less of it on local sports talk lately because of the Phillies' run.

But, I suspect that, after the World Series, the fans will be out in force --- depending, of course, on how the Ealges performed over the next two weeks.

Now- Howard Eskin is a Reid/Eagles apologist (so much so that I'm sure he's on the payroll), so take this with a grain of salt, but he said the Eagles DID try and get Gonzales, and the CHIEFS backed down, and have decided not to trade him at all.

Seeing as how Gonzales is still on the Chiefs, this could be true.

Your other points are spot-on, though. Let's see- lt's set up and offense that's pass-oreinted without any WRs, and a defense where linebackers can't stop the run.

Redskins were on an unbelieveable roll- I mean, ZERO turnovers?

There was no way that could last.

The Redskins are another team that's good, but not THAT good.

Yes- the Rams' turnaround has been nice, but i'm not sold on them just yet. Even that their streak will continue.

Yeah Toq, it is amazing how different we can feel about Dem Saints in a period of seven days. I watched the game at Harrah's New Orleans. It was miserable. Game days are the only days they let dealers break the uniform code by wearing NFL jerseys so you see a lot of them on Sunday. Of course, 95 % of them are Saints. I did spot one dealer wearing a Carolina jersey and briefly considered playing at her table while questioning her choice of attire . I decided against when I realized she would probably damage my bankroll as bad as the Panthers did the Saints pride if I sat down with an attitude.

Yes- I'm sorry- and I can't believe as a Steelers' fan I went awry and didn't mention the Bungles.

They really do suck. I think I read somewhere that there have been 8 0-7 starts in the last decade...and the Bungles have 6 of them.
